The Ones We Bring Home
Star Wars · Zero Company
The story in the song
This original Star Wars: Zero Company tribute follows Zero Company as Hawks turns a squad discarded by war into found family, refusing to spend any operator for victory and fighting to bring every one of them home.
The final chorus rejects the idea that these operators are spare parts and turns survival into Hawks' promise that no one goes alone.

Lyrics
No flag was raised when they threw us away.
No names on the wall.
Just orders gone cold
and one last call.
We came from the cracks in a losing war,
with ash in our lungs and rust at the core.
A scout with no unit, a gun with no cause,
a captain still carrying somebody's loss.
Then Zero was spoken, not rank, not fame,
just room at the fire
and a place for a name.
I mark every route.
I count every door.
But maps never show
who I cannot lose anymore.
We are the ones the war left behind,
your life at my side
and your fate tied to mine.
Every command cuts under my skin.
One wrong move, and I bury my kin.
So hold to the line when the black skies roam.
Zero Company -
the ones we bring home.
No medals between us, no clean excuse,
just trust built slowly through fire and bruises.
You watch my blind side. I carry your pain.
We laugh in the dropship to silence the strain.
The target is simple. The choices are not.
A victory means nothing if you are the cost.
I hear every voice
through smoke and alarm.
The mission says forward.
My blood says keep them from harm.
We are the ones the war left behind,
your life at my side
and your fate tied to mine.
Every command cuts under my skin.
One wrong move, and I bury my kin.
So hold to the line when the black skies roam.
Zero Company -
the ones we bring home.
If I choose the fast road, who fails to return?
If I wait for the safe road,
what shelter will burn?
There is no perfect order, no spotless command.
Only lives in the balance
and trust in my hands.
We are not spare parts. We are not lost names.
We made our own shelter inside of the flames.
Every command may demand what I love,
but I will not spend you for praise from above.
When the last shot fades and the cold stars glow,
Zero Company -
no one goes alone.
No flag.
No throne.
Just the ones
we bring home.
