The Last Witness
Star Wars - The Old Republic · Darth Nihilus & Visas Marr
The story in the song
This original Star Wars: The Old Republic tribute follows Darth Nihilus and Visas Marr through the silence of Katarr: the Sith who became an endless hunger, and the sole survivor who could still witness the man disappearing behind the mask.
By the final chorus, Visas no longer exists as Nihilus's echo. She remembers what the hunger erased, breaks the bond, and survives without pretending the wound was ever mercy.

Lyrics
I woke where every prayer had lost its breath,
Katarr beneath a sky as still as death.
No mother’s cry, no footstep in the dust,
Only your shadow - and the taste of rust.
I crossed the wound where broken powers bled.
The living called. I fed, and they were dead.
Yet in the silence, one small pulse endured.
I left you there - not saved, and never cured.
You drew me near and taught my grief to kneel,
To read the dark, to make the empty real.
But through the mask, behind the hollow sound,
I saw a man still sinking in the wound.
Do not seek eyes where hunger has its throne.
Do not call flesh what emptiness has owned.
Nihilus is a name the dead may keep.
I am the mouth beneath creation’s sleep.
One world went silent, one witness remained.
You wore the hunger, I carried the pain.
Behind the white mask, beneath the black sky,
A man became absence - and I watched him die.
Master and survivor, bound by what was lost,
One fed by every life, one counting every cost.
I drank from stars and still the ache grew wide.
Each victory opened another mouth inside.
No fleet, no world, no Force could make me whole.
The feast consumed the borders of my soul.
I heard that hunger speak through every chain,
But mercy cannot grow from endless pain.
You spared my life, yet never asked me why.
Perhaps you needed one who watched you die.
Witness me fade.
I witness the choice.
There is no man.
I still hear his voice.
One world went silent, one witness remained.
You wore the hunger, I carried the pain.
Behind the white mask, beneath the black sky,
A man became absence - and I watched him die.
Master and survivor, bound by what was lost,
One fed by every life, one counting every cost.
I will not be the echo of your need.
I will not call your emptiness a creed.
The bond may break, the wound may still be deep,
But I will guard the self you could not keep.
Then leave me nameless, farther than the light.
The last of me is hunger in the night.
No hand can lift the mask, no voice restore
The man who disappeared behind the war.
One world went silent, one witness walks on.
The master is shadow, the servant is gone.
Behind the white mask, beneath the black sky,
A man became absence - but truth did not die.
Master and survivor, severed by the cost:
One became the hunger.
One refused to be lost.
I saw what remained when the darkness was fed.
And I heard you living among all my dead.
