From the Shadows We Rise

In a cold Gotham alley, a boy kneels in the rain, Pearls and innocence shattered, a heart bound by pain. In darkness he swore no innocent would fall, He forged fear into armor to answer Gotham’s call. He watches from the shadows, a guardian of the night, Cloaked in vengeance and hope, preparing to fight. We rise from the shadows, up into the light (we rise), Turning pain into power in the dark of the night, We carry the fire of hope up to the skies, Scarred but not broken, together we rise. He lost the one he loved – her life taken by flame, To keep hope alive for others, he shouldered the blame. When a white knight fell into darkness, he bore the cost, Branded a villain so hope would not be lost. Haunted by all of the scars and the burdens he hides, Still he stands for the helpless with shadows at his side. We rise from the shadows, up into the light (we rise), Turning pain into power in the darkest night, We raise the flame of hope high into the sky, Scarred but not broken, together we rise. He was broken in darkness, nearly resigned to fate, But he remembered a voice saying, "Rise – it’s not too late." He climbed out of the abyss, reborn ready to fight, Stronger than ever, now the dawn is in sight. We rise from the shadows, up into the light (we rise), Turning pain into power in the darkest night, We raise the flame of hope high into the sky, Scarred but not broken, together we rise! In Gotham’s darkest hour, the Dark Knight will rise, A legend born of shadows – and hope never dies.
