Bury Us Twice
Dragon Age · Legion of the Dead
The story in the song
A Dragon Age tribute song for the Legion of the Dead - dwarves declared dead before battle, stripped of House and caste, and sent into the Deep Roads to hold the line until nothing remains but oath, iron, and memory.
This one leans into cinematic dwarven dark-folk doom metal: funeral chant, war drums, anvil strikes, low horns, and a duet between a condemned recruit and a Legion veteran.

Lyrics
The cup is drained. The debts are gone.
My name is carved among the dead.
Close the gate.
Wake the drums.
Let the Deep Roads count our tread.
My mother laid my hammer down
Beside the grave without a stone.
The Shaper sealed my final word;
I left the living world alone.
Black marks were drawn across my face,
Cold iron bound against my skin.
No House would claim the soul I was;
The Legion claimed the war within.
No crown below.
No caste remains.
Only the oath. Only the blade.
We gave our breath before the fight,
So death can take no more tonight.
We died at the gate, but we march below,
Where the old roads rot and the black roots grow.
Let the darkspawn come, let the Deep Roads shake-
We are the wall no horde can break.
No sun, no throne, no final plea,
Only iron, blood, and memory.
When the last torch breaks and the war drums cease,
Bury us twice - and call it peace.
I watched a hundred torches fail
In halls the poisoned dark reclaimed.
We sealed our kin in carven stone
And sang no grief, but spoke each name.
I hear them scraping past the shields.
I smell the taint beneath the flame.
For every hall their hunger took,
My hammer pays them name for name.
You came to wash your shame in blood.
I came with nothing left to save.
Then shoulder iron, lock the line-
We choose the road. We choose the grave.
No past behind.
No dawn ahead.
Only the living fear the dead.
We gave our names before the fight;
Each hammer-blow repays the night.
What is your House?
The Legion.
What is your caste?
The dead.
What do you carry?
My sentence.
What do you seek?
Their end.
What is our dawn?
The forge-fire.
What is our sky?
The Stone.
What is our rest?
The second grave.
What do we fear?
Nothing below!
Dead at the gate!
Iron in hand!
Blood for the road!
Stone where we stand!
Dead at the gate!
Names laid to rest!
We do not return-
We only descend!
We died at the gate, and we march below,
Where the old roads burn and the war horns blow.
Let the darkspawn come, let the whole Stone shake-
We are the wall no horde can break.
No sun, no throne, no final plea,
Only iron, blood, and memory.
When the last torch breaks and the war drums cease,
Bury us twice-
Bury us twice-
And call it peace.
Seal the fallen.
Speak their names.
The Stone remembers.
The Legion remains.
