Betrayed & Left Behind

StarCraft · Kerrigan

The story in the song

This original song is written as a tragic tribute to Sarah Kerrigan — not as the Queen of Blades first, but as the woman left on Tarsonis, abandoned in silence and rewritten by war. It blends cinematic symphonic metal with dark industrial and orchestral elements to tell her story from the inside: betrayal, transformation, vengeance, and the human name she never truly lost.

The song follows Kerrigan’s entire arc: the moment Mengsk leaves her to die, the Swarm’s chrysalis closing around her, the rise of the Queen of Blades, the fleeting return of her humanity, and the choices that lead her through Zerus, Korhal, and finally beyond vengeance itself. It refuses to flatten her into a monster. Instead, it holds both truths at once: the blade and the girl who still remembers her own name.

Lyrics

I was Sarah once... I screamed into the void and nobody came. So the darkness answered with teeth and names. I was a Ghost with a loaded mind, A weapon dressed in a human spine. Sons of Korhal, promises like gold, But every oath felt bought and sold. I questioned fire, I questioned faith, He watched my doubt like a weakness to take. A planet burning to prove his cause, And I became the price of his applause. Tarsonis sky turned black with wings, My name on the channel, then nothing— Left behind like an inconvenient truth, And the Swarm wrote over my youth. Left on Tarsonis—left to die alone Left on Tarsonis—now I’m far from home Queen of Blades—crown of living knives Hope in one hand, vengeance in the other—both alive Left on Tarsonis—hear my human name Under all this armor, I still feel shame Call me monster, call me what you need But I remember who I was… between the teeth Left… on Tarsonis. Left… on Tarsonis. Left… on Tarsonis. Left… on Tarsonis. Char carved a chrysalis around my soul, A throne of bone where the heart beats cold. The Overmind’s shadow in my veins, Turning my grief into marching chains. Aiur fell under a storm of claws, I watched the galaxy learn new laws. Then the hive went quiet—its god was gone, And I stood free… but I wasn’t won. Allies became exits, trust became bait, Every victory tasted a second too late. I wore my power like a stitched-on skin, And still… I could hear her trapped within. Left on Tarsonis—left to die alone Left on Tarsonis—now I’m far from home Queen of Blades—crown of living knives Hope in one hand, vengeance in the other—both alive Left on Tarsonis—hear my human name Under all this armor, I still feel shame Call me monster, call me what you need But I remember who I was… between the teeth A Keystone light tore the swarm from my skin, For one small breath… I felt human again. But war doesn’t end when you wake from it— It waits in your bones like a loaded ship. Zerus called—old hunger, ancient form, I became the storm I swore to mourn. Korhal’s crown fell—vengeance complete, And still the void kept time to my heartbeat. Ulnar under starlight, a final door, I rose… so the galaxy wouldn’t burn anymore. If salvation costs the last of my name, Then let it hurt—let it mean something… Left on Tarsonis—left to die alone Left on Tarsonis—now I’m far from home Queen of Blades—crown of living knives Hope in one hand, vengeance in the other—both alive Left on Tarsonis—hear my human name Under all this armor, I still feel shame If I become the light that ends the night Remember the girl… inside the fight Left on Tarsonis… Sarah once… Queen of Blades… …not unscarred.
